Product Description

NPX couplings are claw couplings with flexible elements to provide

a torsionally flexible connection for shafts. The flexible elements excel in their wear resistance, ageing resistance and their temperature resi stance from -30°C to +80°C. Thanks to their flexiblility, impacts, rotary vibrations and noises are effectively absorbed. The flexible elements are dimensioned such that radial, axial and

angular movements between the two halves of the coupling are cancelled out. The flexible

NPX couplings are of the plug-in type for installation and do not involve any particularly rigorous requirements with respect to alignment accuracy. The balancing quality is, in accordance with DIN-ISO 1940, in the quality range G 16. DESCH Pex couplings can be used in the whole of machine construction wherever a reliable shaft connection is needed between motor and machine.

NPX coupling selection example

NPX type B coupling to couple a 15.0 kW,

1460 rev/min motor to a pulveriser which absorbs 13.2 kW.

Both shaft diameters are 42 mm and Taper bush flanges are required

for both shafts.

1] Service factor

from Table 1 on page 2, the service factor for this

application is 1.75

2] Design power

using the absorbed power of the pulveriser, the design power is

13.2 x 1.75 = 23.1 kW

3] NPX coupling size selection

Refer to Table 2 on page 2

By reading down and interpolating for the required speed of 1460

rev/min, it is seen that an NPX size 110 will transmit 24.5 kW

which is in excess of the 23.1 kW required

take a 1610 taper bush which are available with bores to suit the
